Pinatunayan ng mga Pinoy na magaling rin tayo magluto, sapagkat ang Sinigang na baboy, isa sa ating paboritong ulam, ang pinangalanang “best rated soup in 2021” ayon sa food and travel website na TasteAtlas.
Inilabas ang list noong Biyernes, kung saan No. 1 ang Sinigang na baboy sa top 100 list ng soup category na may rating na 4.7 out of 5.
Batay sa kanilang description, ito’y isang “unique soup that is a true representative of Filipino cuisine” with its “sour lightness perfectly matching the harsh tropical heat of the country.”
“This variety of sinigang—Filipino savory and sour soup—consists of various pork cuts that are simmered along tamarind fruit. Tomatoes, onions, garlic, okra, white radish, water spinach and green long peppers are also commonly used for this soup,” dagdag nito.
Samantala, nakabilang rin ang putaheng sinigang ng Pilipinas sa kategorya bilang vegetable soup, at nakuha nito ang No. 3 spot na may rating na 4.6.
“Sinigang is a sour Filipino soup consisting of sampalok, water spinach, green pepper, cabbage, broccoli, eggplant, diced tomatoes, sliced onions, ginger, green beans, water, and salt. The basic broth usually consists of rice washing, with the addition of a souring agent,” sabi ng TasteAtlas.
Dagdag nila na ito’y tradionally hinahain na maiinit at may kasamang kanin.
“It is an often seen dish at special occasions such as birthdays or weddings, and over time, as the dish became more popular, there were new variations that used guava or raw mango instead of sampalok and each region developed their own version of the popular soup.”
Maliban sa Sinigang, may iba pang Filipno dishes na napabilang sa TasteAtlas Awards 2021, katulad ng Lumpia kung saan pangalawa ito sa best-rated side dish, habang ang sisig at adobo ay rank 72 at 81 sa top 100 best dishes in the world.
Noong Agosto 2021, ang Sinigang rin ang nakakuha ng No. 1 spot sa best rated vegetable soup sa buong mundo ayon sa TasteAtlas na may rating na 4.8.
