Sa romance movies, minsan may nakikita tayong scene kung saan biglang nag pahayag ng tunay na pagmamahal ang best man sa kasal ng kanyang best friend na babae matapos niyang ma-realize, mahal na mahal niya ang bride. Alam niyo ba na may ganitong nangyari sa real life? What’s more, sa true to life story na ito, mag-best friends ang groom at ang best man!
Magkakaibigan simula noong high school ang bride, na si Desiree White, si Bryant, ang best man, at ang groom (hindi binanggit kung ano ang pangalan niya).
“Bryant and I met each other in class at high school,” sinabi ni White sa Kennedy News. “I had a boyfriend at the time and, because of that, I really wasn’t going to talk to other people.”
Nabanggit rin ni White na si Bryant at ang groom ay naging mag-best friends, at “because they were guys, they did a lot together. They did everything together.”
Sudden Confession
Ngunit, biglang nahamon ang friendship ng tatlo nang mag-confess si Bryant ng kanyang undying love para kay White sa araw ng kanyang kasal! Habang siya’y nagbibigay ng kanyang best man speech sa harap ng 200 wedding guests.
“He said, ‘I remember the first moment I saw Desiree, I loved her. I fell in love with her. I knew she had to be mine. I thought she was the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen in my life,’” kwento ni White sa Kennedy News and Media patungkol sa speech na binigay Bryant sa kanyang 2010 matrimony.
“He said, ‘She’s the best person I’ve ever met. I’ve never met anyone like her. Then I found out she already had a boyfriend and I thought I needed to find out a way to get her, but then I met [White’s ex-husband] and we became friends,’” dagdag niya.
“[Bryant] then just said, ‘Love you both — congratulations.’ It ended there,” alaala ni White.
Na-shock ang bride at groom sa sudden confession ng best man, at naging awkward ang atmosphere ng room, “everyone was kind of laughing — and then it got quiet,” sabi ni White.
Ngunit, sa courage na binigay ni Bryant, nahirapan maniwala si White, sapagkat inisip niya na maaaring lasing at “lonely” lamang siya.
Hindi pa diyan nagtatapos ang moves ni Bryant, dahil sa evening dance, nang sila’y sumayaw tinanong ni Bryant si White na, “Why didn’t you ever give me a chance? I would have always taken care of you.”
Sagot naman ni White na, “I asked him what he meant and he said, ‘Nothing. I love you, I love [White’s ex-husband].’” Matapos nito, nanahimik na lamang siya.
After Marriage
Sadly, wala pang isang taon, nagsimula nang masira ang marriage ni White, kung saan inilarawan ni White na nag-adopt ng “a totally different lifestyle,” ang kanyang then-husband.
At dito nagkaroon ng spark si White para kay Bryant.
“When [my ex and I] broke up and divorced, I went through a depression and was really secluded myself. I just didn’t want to make an effort for anything,” aniya. Si Bryant ang nagbigay sa kanya ng emotional support. “He’d ask me to eat with him or hang out and watch a show. He was trying to be there for me.”
Isang araw, habang sila magkasama, nag-kiss ang dalawa.
“It was out of nowhere. When he kissed me, I didn’t stop it, then I kissed him back,” kwento ni White “I was shocked that it was a good kiss. It felt good and natural.”
Hindi nagtagal na ang magkaibigan na ito ay naging magkasintahan, at ngayo’y mag-asawa na sila at may apat na silang anak.
“We love being parents. Twenty-year-old Desiree wouldn’t think she could be a mom of four kids,” pahayag niya. “She couldn’t imagine this is what my life would be like now.”
