“Filipinas” ang pangalan na dadalhin ni Miss Universe Philippines na si Michelle Dee sa introduction number ng Miss Universe 2023 imbes na “Philippines”.
Sa latest na pasilip na video na naka-upload sa social media ng kanilang rehearsal para sa introduction, ang sigaw ng kandidata ay “Michelle Marquez Dee, Filipinas!”
Noon ay nabanggit ni Michelle na may lahi itong Espanyol ngunit hindi siya fluent mag salita, kaya inaaral niya ito upang maintindihan niya ang mga makakausap at makakasalamuha niya sa El Salvador.
Aniya, Of course, I’m not fluent in Spanish but I do have Spanish heritage. I am a Marquez. So, gratefully, a lot of our languages, a lot of our words have a lot of similarities with the Spanish language”.
Dagdag pa niya, Of course you have to study the place that you’re going to, the culture. You don’t want to come empty-handed. And of course, I want to represent the Philippines in the best way possible”.
Kwento pa niya, nung 1st day palang ng rehearsal nila sa El Salvador ay alam na niya na “Filipinas” ang sasabihin nito.
Chika pa niya, “But it was after the first time I said it, a lot of the Latinas said, ‘Oh, I love that you said Filipinas, Filipinas, Filipinas.’ And I guess some of the footages came out from our practice rehearsal yesterday.”
Sa kabilang banda, sinabi din ni Michelle na habang papalapit ang araw ng coronation ng Miss Universe 2023 ay hindi niya pa nararamdaman na may nagaganap na competition sa mga kasama niyang 85 na kandidata na mag co-compete ngayong taon.
Sey niya, “It doesn’t feel like a competition. It doesn’t. I mean, it doesn’t feel like a competition, personally, where you’re going to, I guess, sabotage, or think ill about your fellow competitors or delegates.”
“Because essentially, we’re all here for the same purpose. We’re all so driven and empowered. And one of my biggest takeaways has always been to build that relationship with so many like-minded girls as well.”
Ang coronation night ng Miss Universe 2023 ay gaganapin ngayong November 19 sa El Salvador at maaaring mapanood sa mga local networks nationwide.
