It was a wedding like no other, as the local and foreign news couldn’t get enough of this inspiring couple from Bulacan. Dianne Victoriano-Padilla, in her elegant wedding dress, marched down the aisle, and nothing, not even the rising waters, could wipe the smiles off her face.

Little did they know that their wedding would be the talk of the town after their photos and videos went viral. In an interview with Julius and Tin on One PH, Dianne shared her surprise and delight at the overwhelming response to their unconventional wedding.

As the fateful day approached, the couple was informed that the church was flooded, posing a challenging decision. Should they cancel or push through with the ceremony? Dianne and Paulo were determined to forge ahead, considering the guests and entourage who had come from far-off places, including their ninong, Jojo Alejar, who traveled all the way from Antipolo, Rizal.

“For us, the primary goal was to get married that day,” Dianne shared, acknowledging the concern for their guests who made the effort to be there. However, they had to make adjustments, and the couple, together with their families, decided to proceed, even if the entourage couldn’t make it due to the flood.

But then, something remarkable happened. As the couple communicated with their sponsors, the ninongs and ninangs, they were met with unwavering support. “We asked them if it was okay with them given the situation. If not, it’s fine; we can just meet at the reception. But they insisted on being there with us, marching along with our family,” Dianne explained.

Some even came prepared, donning boots or bringing along slippers, knowing it would be a rainy day due to Typhoon Egay. The flood didn’t dampen their spirits; instead, it highlighted the strength of their bonds and the depth of their commitment.

Of course, as with any viral story, there were some negative comments, but those were easily outweighed by the overwhelming positivity and admiration from netizens. The couple’s resilience and the support they received touched the hearts of many.

Even Jojo Alejar, the ninong who traveled all the way to be there, shared a live video of the wedding, rejoicing in his duties as a sponsor. He playfully remarked, “Tuloy ang kasal! Mabuhay ang bagong kasal! Rain or shine, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, in storms or in flood, kahit ano po yan… typhoon… God is with you. You will endure, and no one can be against you, again love goes on, endless love, endless flood goes on.”

This unique and touching wedding taught us that love is not bound by circumstances. Despite the floodwaters, Paulo Jayvee Padilla and Dianne Victoriano emerged victorious, proving that when you have love on your side, nothing can stand in your way.
