The Aristocrat, a renowned Filipino restaurant, has been recognized by lifestyle website TasteAtlas as one of the “150 Most Legendary Restaurants in the World”, notably being the only Filipino entrant to make the cut.
The restaurant landed at the 108th spot, with its celebrated Lumpiang Shanghai being labeled the “best in the world,” surpassing those from other Filipino restaurants such as Baguio’s Good Taste, Marikina’s Luyong Restaurant, Manila Hotel’s Cafe Ilang-Ilang, and Parañaque’s Toho Restaurant Antigua.
TasteAtlas created this list to celebrate restaurants offering a “unique gastronomic journey that is absolutely worth embarking upon at least once in your lifetime.” They emphasized establishments that have withstood the test of time, delivering “honest, no-nonsense food that is simply delectable” in a constantly evolving culinary world.
Aside from the award-winning Lumpiang Shanghai, The Aristocrat is also known for its dishes such as Mechado, Pancit Canton, Crispy Pata, Kare-kare, Sinigang, Pancit Palabok, Daing na Bangus, Atchara, Dinuguan, Puto, and Halo-Halo.
Vienna’s 118-year-old restaurant, Figlmüller, famed for its Schnitzel Wiener Art, topped the “150 Most Legendary Restaurants in the World” list. The top 5 also featured Katz’s Delicatessen in New York City, Indonesia’s Warung Mak Beng, La Polar in Mexico City, and Naples’ L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele.
Other globally recognized establishments on the list included New York City’s Peter Luger Steak House at No. 25, Taipei’s Din Tai Fung at No. 28, Japan’s Ippudo at No. 60, and Singapore’s Jumbo Seafood at No. 80.
